Vibrantly Impetuous
Usually this involves a lot of sugar, sometimes butter, generally kind of boring.

But I ran across an idea for a ginger / vanilla / sugar combination to put on top of the grapefruit prior to broiling. Interesting flavor combination – ginger and vanilla, melting together with the acidic grapefruit juice.
Ginger is kind of bright, energetic, impetuous. With just a little heat to it. And it brings a bit of that into a sleepy Sunday morning.
Combined with the rich, lush flavor of vanilla it makes a vibrant contrast.
The grapefruit / ginger / kiwi combo worked well too. If we had had Tahitian vanilla, that would have been perfect.
Simple to make. And the taste was really great. Everyone liked it, despite that fact that at the first bite, you knew it was something a little different.
Anyways, just a quick post on a nice taste.
Ginger Vanilla Broiled Grapefruit
2 large grapefruit
Mix together:
1/3 cup sugar
1-2 tbsp ginger powder
1-2 tsp vanilla extract
I put a kiwi slice and a sprig of mint on top of each for garnish
Cut grapefruits in half. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the four halves. Broil until black spot appear in places. Serve. Enjoy!
